Places to See and Things to Do in Jaipur

Jaipur- Pink City of India

You may be wondering why it’s a Pink City? The colour Pink is a symbol of hospitality; it even is symbolic of what our Indian culture denotes “AtithiDevoBhava (host-guest relationship). Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan and also one of the largest city of Rajasthan. Jaipur is what we can call it as an amalgamation of old and new culture. All the recent construction made here are made without destroying the heritage of the city. Though being a pink city doesn’t mean that the whole Jaipur is in Pink colour, but the experience one will feel there will be cherished for life. It is also the most famous place in India amongst the tourist’s circuit.

Here are some of the places I have listed below which cud be seen and explored in Jaipur:-

  1. Amber Fort

Amber

Amber Fort is an architectural masterpiece that holds an important significance in Indian history. It is situated 11 kilometers away from Pink City- Jaipur and cradled on the top of Aravali Hills. One of the catchy fact about the place is that it is made in mazt- like passages and serpentine staircases. The fort is made up of pink and yellow sandstones and is a part of an extensive complex. Lastly talking about some history behind this fort, it served as the main residence of the Rajput Rulers and is built by Akbar, Maharaja Man Singh in 1592.

  1. Hawa Mahal

Constructed by the great Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in the year 1799 and is located on the edge of the City of palace Jaipur. It’s just not made for tourist purpose, but the main reason was to let women’s of royal houses observe the festivals on the streets while being unseen from outside. It is made in such a unique way, which has small 953 windows that allowed cool winds to enter the palace and hence makes it cool and comfortable in the hot summer season. The attractive thing about the mahal is, it reflects the crown shape and looks like a big huge crown.

  1. Nahargarh Fort

It is located in main Pink City Jaipur, embellished with delicate cravings and stonework. It is situated with two neighboring forts- Amber and Jaigarh and once acted as a strong defense for Jaipur. Fort is located on top of the hill and you can easily take autorikshaw to foot of the hill and can then track for some stretch. The must-visit place if you visit Nahargarh fort is Nahargarg Biological Park which is an asylum for majestic animals like tigers, leopards, and Asiatic lions. Also don’t forget to visit Padao Restaurant, to enjoy a panoramic view of the city of Jaipur.

Jal Mahal the most photographed monument in India is located right in the center of the Man Sagar Lake on the outskirt of Jaipur. This high low symmetrical Palace was once a shooting lodge for Maharajas and now fascinated by many visitors all over the world. It is prohibited to enter into the fort but one can cherish the Palace from a considerable distance and still can mesmerize themselves with the view while enjoying boating. I suggest to visit the place during your Rajasthan tour in the evening to enjoy the lighting of the fort which makes it reflect in the lake.
