10 Days Manali to Leh Jeep Safari

Day 01 : Delhi – Manali

As you arrive at Delhi airport, we would board an AC Volvo bus and reach Manali which is scheduled to arrive at 17:30 PM. This is going to be an overnight journey. As you arrive at Manali, check in to the hotel pre-booked for you and then go about and explore the places like Van Vihar, The Hidimba, Devi Temple and the Tibetan monastery. In the evening, visit the Mall road. Stay at the hotel for the night.

Day 02 : Manali – Sarchu

As you have your breakfast, we would today move to Sarchu by crossing the Rohtang pass and Baralacha. This would mark the inception of our trip as we go and traverse through the meandering paths of the Himalayan ranges. Stay at the tents at campsite.

Day 03 : Manali – Jispa

This day would mark the beginning of our third day of trip as we will head to Jispa. The beginning of this journey would marked by the arrival at Lahul Valley. Proceed your jeep safari as you drive to Koskar, which is a small village at in Lahul. Visit the Gandal and Sissu, and as the valley opens we would visit the cave monasteries. Continue your ride to Tandi which is at the distance of 32 Kms and then we will reach our destination of Jispa. Dine and stay at Jispa.

Day 04 : Jispa – Tsokar

As we explore the Jispa we would proceed our jeep safari to explore the beautiful and scenic areas of high altitude mountain passes through the Lachalung La, Naki La, and Baralacha la and then reach our last destination for today Tsokar. As we go about the labyrinth of Lachalung la, we would then pass alng the picturesque snow capped areas on the way. As we drive along we would explore the Pang Plateau, also cover the More plains, located at an elevation of 4617 meters. Stay at Tsokar and have your dinner here.

Day 05 : Tsokar – Takthok

This journey would start as the trail would cross the Tanglang La which is situated at the altitude of 5300meters. Tanglang La is the world’s second highest motorable road. From here we will continue our jeep safari and drive straight to reach Karo and from here we would step towards the final stop of the day Takthok. Have dinner here and stay at Takthok for the night. Dine and relax here.

Day 06 : Takthok – Aghyam over Wari La and Khalsar

Start your day as we drive to the gradual gradient and reach the Wari La Pass as the road gets a little labyrinth like as the trail becomes thrilling and adventurous. This is going to be one ride which is the essence of the whole trip. As you cross the pass we will start moving downhill as we see the magnificent Karakorum Ranges. After a drive of about one hour we would reach Aghyam. Explore the hamlet settlement and observe the slow paced life of the village. As you have rested for 15-20 minutes in Aghyam we would drive to reach Khalsar nestled at the junction point of Khardungla and Nubra. Khalsar is Small Township in Shyok valley. Explore the town perched near the Shyok River. Camp at Khalsar for the night.

Day 07 : Khalsar - Diskit, Hunder & Panamik Excursion and Drive to Sumur, 90 Kilometers/Full Day

This day would begin as we head for Diskit and after that we would drive for about 20 Kms and reach the famous Gompa of the place – The Diskit Gompa which is as old as 1420 AD. Thereafter drive to to Hundar and explore the barley and rye fields for which Hundar is famous. After a small halt at Hundar, we would move to Panaik, which is a beautiful village with its famous hot water springs and quiet locale. Drive back to Hundar and complete the sightseeing there in Nubra valley. Visit the village of Sumur and stay there for the night.

Day 08 : Sumur - Leh over Khardung La (18280 Feet), (128 Kilometers/7 Hours)

This day would be one of the most adventurous as we will pass the highest motorable road, the Khardung la. As we drive for a distance of 55Kms, we would halt at Khalsar for a short period of time. You can have your lunch and have a look at the scintillating landscapes. We would then drive to Leh and on the way halt at the beautiful Phyang Monastery and then stay at the hotel at Leh.

Day 09 : Leh

This day would be dedicated to a sightseeing trip to Leh. Our first stop would be the beautiful Shey Monastery. Look out for the sculpture of Buddha called as the Buddha Shakyamuni. Thereafter we would visit the Thiksey Gompa. This monastery is situated within the serenity of the hilltop. Watch out for the gold-plated sculpture of the Maitreya Buddha. Our next halt would be the Hemis Monastery, which is considered the richest Gompas in the region. Visit the Stok Palace and the museum along with it. The Stok Palace used to be the royal seat of the kings of Stok. Look out for artifacts exclusive to Ladakh such as the Thangkas and the crown of the King and Queen. Return to Leh in the evening and stay for the night.

Day 10 : Leh – Delhi

In the morning, proceed to Delhi and from there board a flight to your home country. Your service with Travelsite India ends here.
